Assistant Professorship (non tenured) with Teaching Responsibilities | Chair Prof. Dr. Bollig

At our department you will be contributing to a thriving team focusing on the grand social-ecological challenges of the 21st century. The working group has excellent international contacts and considerable research expertise in Africa and Asia. Prof. Michael Bollig's chair with its focus on Environmental Anthropology partners with the Global South Studies Center (GSSC) which brings together further innovative opportunities for interdisciplinary research on global entanglements.

Your Tasks

  • Teaching (4 SWS), offering subject-specific student advisory and counselling services, and administering examinations
  •  Co-Supervising the study focus "Environmental Anthropology“ and contributing to the Master's programme "Culture and Environment in Africa".
  • Contributing to the Collaborative Research Centre 228 "Future Rural Africa - Future-Making and Social-Ecological Transformation".

Your Profile

  • You have a university degree in Social and/or Cultural Anthropology (preferably a doctorate)
  •  You are experienced in ethnological fieldwork.
  •  You are experienced in teaching (preferably both in German and in English)
  • You are planning a research project on a topic of African Environmental Anthropology

The position is available from 1 October 2019t on a full-time basis (39,93 hours per week). It will first be limited to three years, with an option of extending for an additional two years. If the applicant meets the relevant wage requirements and personal qualifications, the salary is based on remuneration group 13 TV- L of the pay scale for the German public sector.
