The Department of Social and Cultural  Anthropology is in search of

Professorship in Environmental Anthropology (W2, fixed-term) (f/m/d)

This five-year W2 professorship has been enabled by the generous funding of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation with the support of the University of Cologne. The successful applicant will work closely with AvH professor Kate Rigby in the development of the new research hub “Multidisciplinary Environmental Studies in the Humanities” (MESH). The post will be affiliated with the Dept. of Social and Cultural Anthropology.

The successful candidate will contribute in particular to the MESH research focus on multispecies conviviality. In addition, they will help to strengthen the field of environmental anthropology within the Global South Studies Centre.
Successful applicants are expected to participate in the research and outreach activities of the University’s and Faculty’s profile areas. The position will be held as a research professorship, with optional teaching and supervision. In the case of non-German speakers, a willingness to acquire German language skills would be welcome, in order to facilitate full participation in all the functions the position entails, including administrative tasks.

Candidates are required to have an excellent PhD in Cultural/Social Anthropology as well as additional academic accomplishments, such as a habilitation thesis or equivalent (“second book” or substantial experience as a junior/associate professor or senior lecturer). An established international research profile in environmental anthropology and success with third-party funding are desirable. In addition, evidence of interdisciplinary engagement is advantageous.

Tätigkeitsfeld: Bibliotheksarbeiten (Retro-Katalogisierung, Benutzerberatung, Aufsicht, Ausleihe, Vermittlung von Informationskompetenz, Retro-Katalogisierung)

Einstellungsvoraussetzung: BA-Studierende ab dem 2. Semester (für Masterstudierende nicht geeignet), Erfolgreicher Abschluss von Basismodul 1, sichere PC-Kenntnisse (Windows, Office, Internet), Bereitschaft zur Einarbeitung in das Bibliothekssystem und zur (relativ eigenständigen) Betreuung der Ausleihe gemeinsam mit dem Glaskasten-Team, Bereitschaft zur Vertiefung von Kenntnissen in Literaturrecherche (Recherche in fachspezifischen Datenbanken).
