Summer 2020 Indigenous Peoples and Climate Change

This semester, the department is collaborating with Infoe (Institut für Ökologie und Aktions-Ethnologie) on the topic of indigenous peoples and climate change.

Within the Master course "Indigene und Klimawandel" there will be a

  • panel discussion on Wednesday, 17.6. 2020 from 17.45-19.15.

with two indigenous representatives - Pasang Dolma Sherpa from Nepal and Rodion Sulyandziga from Russia - who are both working in UN organisations on the topic of climate change.

Topics for the discussion will include questions like:

  • How are indigenous peoples represented in the (inter)national climate change discourse and policy making.
  • How can anthropologists or activists support indigenous peoples in the face of climate change?

The discussion is open for everyone interested in the topic and will take place as a Zoom-conference.

Anyone interested can notify Sarah Mund (smund4@uni-koeln.de) and will receive the Zoom invitation.
